COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Script and Audio

How much information can I fit in my script?
As a guide a 15 sec script contains no more than 40 words.

Can I see the visuals before I approve my script?
Our designers require the audio track when designing the ad so they can synchronise the visual design to the tempo/pace of the audio. A written script approval is required prior to recording.

What background music am I allowed to use?
We have access to thousands of royalty free music tracks to use for your commercial. Alternatively you may want to supply us with your jingle. You can do so by emailing a wav or mp3 file to artwork@starmediaplatinum.com. Unfortunately you can’t use mainstream music as strict copyright laws bind it.

Logos

What format should I provide my logo in?
An eps logo is best. This guarantees the logo will always remain crisp and clear on screen. Tiff or high-resolution jpgs are also ok.

What happens if I don’t have a logo?
We can provide a logo design service where we work with you to design a brilliant new logo. Alternatively we can type your business name in a style that suits your brand.

Visual Design

Can we use white as the background for our ad?
We avoid using white in the background as the light is too bright for the audience to view. Bright bold colours look best.

Can I use the images from our website?
High-resolution images are required. Images copied from your website are not a suitable quality, however the original versions may be.

How many images can I have on screen?
The number of images used in a design differs for each ad. Some ads may only require four images filling the screen. At other times we may use up to 12 images. The basic framework for an ad is: introduction (who you are), middle (what you’d like to say) and conclusion (where the audience can find you).

Can we place our phone number on screen?
We don’t place phone numbers on screen as the audience will not have the means to write the number down or remember it. Instead we direct the audience to your website and physical location.

Should we place an offer on screen?
Unless it’s a substantial offer we would advise against it. Having a simple, clear message about your business will make a more memorable impression.

What if I don’t have any images?
In many areas we offer a professional photography service where you’ll receive 12 high resolution images to use in this and future advertising campaigns. We also have access to an impressive stock photography library containing a huge variety of images. Alternatively many suppliers are often able to provide you with quality studio images of the products you sell.

I’d like the visuals to be a little risqué, what are the restrictions?
All cinema advertisements need to be of a 'G' classification.

Can the images be scaled to fill the screen?
Images can be scaled full screen provided they’re delivered as landscape, high resolution files no smaller than 2400 x 3000 pixels.

I can’t see the preview?
You will need QuickTime installed on your computer to be able to preview your ad. You can download it for free. Please click on the following link to find out how.

During Your Campaign

Can I change my ad once it’s gone to screen?
Absolutely. You can change your ad as often as you like. Production quotes are provided upon request and replacements occur on our Saturday schedule dates.

How do I order movie meal deal tickets?
Contact Shooting Star’s receptionist on (02) 9660 6969 to place your order. We require upfront payment before despatching – if we have your credit card details on file and you order before 2pm we can despatch the tickets the next day. You can choose next day delivery or standard registered post delivery (3 – 5 days).

How do I know what screen my ad is on?
Advertising schedules are rotated regularly. Your sales executive will be able to tell you which cinema number your ad is currently screening in so that you can view it.
